At 10 a.m. on May 14, 2025, Sichuan University of Culture and Arts held its 2025 Student Commendation Conference at the Wenchang Theatre, Zitong Campus.The conference, themed "Role Models Steering Youth Power", summed up student - work achievements from 2023 - 2024. It honored advanced groups and individuals who stood out in ideological guidance, academic - atmosphere building, volunteer services, and labor practice, to promote positive youth energy and spur students on.In total, over 600 attended the conference, including Zhao Tingting, the chairperson of SUCA; Zuo Dongmei, party committee secretary and provincial government supervision specialist; Liang Xiumei, executive president; Liu Lixin, party committee deputy secretary and discipline inspection committee secretary; Yang Wenyong and Zhang Dahan, vice presidents; Liang Baotang, party working committee secretary and deputy director of Zitong Campus Management Committee; student - work department leaders; party secretaries and deputy secretaries of secondary colleges’ Party branches and direct - affiliated Party branches; counselors at Zitong Campus; and representatives of commended groups, students, and youth league members. Li Yi, minister of student affairs and youth league committee secretary, presided over the event.

National Anthem Rings Out as New Journey Begins, Commendation of Role Models Sets Benchmark

The conference commenced amidst the solemn strains of the National Anthem of the People's Republic of China. Liang Baotang, the Party Committee Secretary and Deputy Director of the Zitong Campus Management Committee, first read out the commendation decisions for three categories: "Communist Youth League Advanced Collectives and Individuals for the 2023–2024 Academic Year," "Outstanding Student Volunteers at the First International Conference on Cultural Technology and Future Innovation Development," and "Classes, Dormitories, and Study Role Models with Excellent Academic Atmosphere." These decisions fully acknowledged the pioneering role of young students in ideological guidance and social practice.

Vice Presidents Zhang Dahang and Yang Wenying respectively read out the commendation documents for labor practice, student assistants, new media work, and academic honors. These included multiple honors such as "Labor Role Models," "National Scholarship," "Municipal-level Outstanding Students," and "Outstanding Graduates," demonstrating the school's comprehensive educational achievements through the "five-education approach" (moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education).

Liu Lixin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee, emphasized while reading out the list of national scholarship recipients that this year, a total of 612 students at our school received the National Aspiration Scholarship, and 35 students received the National Scholarship. This highlights the continuous improvement in the quality of talent cultivation at our institution.

Youth Role Models Speak of Responsibility, Strive Onward to Continue the Splendid Chapter

After the commendation session, three outstanding student representatives took the stage one by one to share their insights on growth. Zhang Lingfei, a representative of the outstanding volunteers at the First International Conference on Cultural Technology and Future Innovation Development, spoke on the topic "Measuring the World Stage with Youthful Steps," recounting his experiences in serving international events and promoting Chinese culture. Ye Dahai, a representative of the outstanding graduates of Sichuan Province, called on his juniors to "write their youthful answers with hard work" by combining his professional studies and innovative practices. Yan Hongling, a recipient of the National Scholarship, interpreted "the responsibilities and pursuits of the new era's youth" from the dual perspectives of practical training and public welfare services. Their speeches, filled with passion and conviction, won warm applause from the entire audience.

School Leaders Pin High Hopes, Unite Strength for the Future

Zuo Dongmei, the Party Committee Secretary of the school and a special inspector of the provincial government, congratulated the commended collectives and individuals in her concluding speech, and highly praised the spirit of the students across the school, characterized by "taking struggle as the base color and innovation as the driving force." She pointed out that in the past year, the school has closely focused on the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and talent, deepened the comprehensive reform of "all-round education," and produced a large number of outstanding students who are both morally and professionally qualified and have developed comprehensively, winning many honors for the school and significantly enhancing its social influence.

This year marks the 106th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement. Young friends are the pioneers of the times and the future of the country. We must inherit and carry forward the spirit of "May Fourth," with firm beliefs, broad minds, creative passion, and a pragmatic attitude, to study hard, actively practice, and contribute to the realization of the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Facing the new journey, she put forward five hopes for all students: First, to firmly hold on to ideals and beliefs, bravely take on the mission of the times, and strive to be practitioners of the core socialist values; Second, to temper strong skills, delve into professional fields, and realize personal value in serving the national strategy of building a strong cultural country; Third, to promote the school motto spirit and always keep the heart of progress; Fourth, to refine moral cultivation and be brave in taking responsibility; Fifth, to promote the positive energy of the times and lead a new campus trend with the power of peer role models.

In her concluding remarks, Secretary Zuo Dongmei encouraged teachers and students to join hands and make contributions to the high-quality development of the school.

The conference concluded successfully amidst the stirring melody of the school anthem, "Creating a Brighter Tomorrow." This commendation conference was not only an award ceremony for outstanding students but also a vivid lesson in ideological and political education.
