Artistic Bonds Across the Straits: SUCA and Taiwan Universities Exploring Paths in Art, Design, and Cultural Creativity

On March 10, 2025, a delegation of teachers and students from multiple Taiwan universities arrived at SUCA, Zitong campus in Sichuan. They started an exchange activity themed around  “Artistic Bonds Across the Straits: SUCA and Taiwan Universities Exploring Paths in Art, Design, and Cultural Creativity”. This event, aimed at promoting cultural and artistic exchanges and integration across the straits, also sought to boost cultural inheritance and innovation, and deepen friendship and emotional connections among youth across the straits.

After the visit, a symposium themed around “Artistic Bonds Across the Straits: SUCA and Taiwan Universities Exploring Paths in Art, Design, and Cultural Creativity” began on the 2nd floor of the College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park. Ms. Zhong Xinchun, Dean of the CICC, delivered a welcome speech. She introduced the school's history, educational philosophy, and achievements in cultural and artistic education, highlighting that the event aims to use art as a bridge to enhance cross-strait cultural exchange and integration. Mr. Xie Baiyuan, advisor at the Chengdu Nongyuan-Sichuan Provincial Cross-Straits Exchange Base Office, attended and detailed the development and accomplishments in cultural, artistic, and design fields of the visiting Taiwan university delegation.

During the exchange, participants simply discussed three topics: "Educational Models and Talent Cultivation", "Creative Inspiration and Cultural Integration", and "Industry Trends and Market Prospects". Professors from Taiwan shared their unique experiences in art, design, and cultural creativity in curriculum design and in fostering students' innovation and practical skills. Our university's teachers introduced the school's innovative practices in applied talent cultivation, such as combining classroom teaching with studio work and linking practice with industry projects to enhance students' overall abilities and employability. Additionally, both sides analyzed global industry trends and explored ways to strengthen cross-strait art industry cooperation, expand markets, and promote outstanding works internationally.

This exchange event provided a learning platform for cross-strait university teachers and students and revitalized Sichuan and Taiwan cultural exchanges. Through visits and discussions, both sides shared experiences and sparked new ideas, laying a solid foundation for future cultural development. Moving forward, the school will deepen cooperation with universities across the strait, explore new cultural education models, and cultivate cultural and artistic talents with international perspectives and innovation capabilities.
